structure is a self-stabilising energy event complex. So what are public structures, how do publics form them and how are we bound by them? public Structures is as much a directive to utilize an awareness of how we form structures as to reconsider the forms that proliferate within public realms. building on the 1920s-30s radical exhibition design of frederick kiesler and Herbert Bayer, public structures consists of a series of adapted physical structures to re-imagine the public space of gallery, street and beyond. In both indoors and outdoor situations a series of unique structures in bamboo scaffolding will support a multitude of display surfaces for billboard images produced by international artists. each work will present notions of questioning existing public structures whilst reflecting on the ‘publics’ power or will to create or adapt those structures. how does the notion of a public generate its ‘landscape’? which factor plays the most important role? economics, aesthetics, instinct, curiosity or historical ideals?
